Synopsis

The operations of the farmers in the rural areas of India have been transformed by the implementation of new technologies such as artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, remote sensing, and mobile advisory. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the impact of digital agriculture on the rural development in India. This research paper is based on secondary sources. These farmers would be able to make sound decisions about their crop cultivation, irrigation, pest control, and marketing using these technologies. The government has introduced several initiatives to help the farmers, including the Digital India Initiative and the e-NAM initiative. The application of mobile applications and digital platforms in terms of predicting weather forecasts, quality of soils, and provision of banking and insurance services will reduce the level of uncertainty, leading to increased productivity. Precision farming will lead to efficient resource management, thereby reducing costs and environmental impact. In addition, the provision of credit facilities by farmers through digital payments and fintech technologies makes the agriculture sector resilient against climatic change and economic changes. However, there are challenges such as low levels of digital literacy, inadequate internet services in rural areas, and cost issues that should be taken into consideration.
